Description

Welcome to the Cavendish Senior Citizens.

Having a Senior Citizens group was first suggested in Sept 1986, by Rev Barry Baker, who was the Uniting Church Minister in Cavendish at the time.  After a few meetings and a lot of suggestions, the Cavendish Senior Citizens group was formed and had their first official meeting on March 16th 1987.  Nineteen people attended this meeting, with the list of actual registered members being 28.

As the years have passed, the membership has stayed consistently on an average of 28, so it's still going strong.  The current members meet every second Monday of the month for their monthly meeting and a three-course luncheon, after which there is normally a speaker to talk on different things. It is always very enjoyable and informative. This is followed by afternoon tea.  On the odd occasion between these meetings, we have day bus trips or as we did last year, met for a meal in Hamilton and then went to the Art Gallery.

Being a Cavendish Senior Citizen has never got a boring moment in it. There's a lot of talk, a lot of laughter and a very special thing - company and companionship of beautiful people and you only have to be 55 to join!!!
