Description

St Lukes Lutheran Church Cavendish

History

Built in 1857 and set in picturesque red gum country, the little blue stone church of St Lukes Cavendish houses a living and growing congregation. Formally owned and worshiped in by the Presbyterians, St Lukes was purchased in 1983 as, until that stage the Lutherans had no place of worship of their own. The church was dedicated in 1984 after renovations.

Physically

Physically, regular working bees have consolidated the church and hall into an attractive place of worship. The hall is sited near the church and its Sunday School rooms are attractive and comfortable. Cuppas after 8:30 am service are held in the main hall area and provide a great chance to catch up with friends. Trees have been planted in the parking area and a garden beautifies the area between church and hall.

The average weekly attendance of around 25 makes for a strong and vibrant congregation, which includes young families.

Organ

St Lukes also houses a most impressive and historic pipe organ.  The 406 pipe organ was built around the 1860s', and is classified by the national trust and is one of the oldest small pipe organs in the district.

Service Times

The first two Sundays of the month are 10:30 am service.
